Belly Fat: The 2 Types

Good evening everyone.  How are you all doing today?  Most people do not know this but there are actually two types of belly fat.  There is subcutaneous, the layer of fat just below the skin, and there is visceral, the layer beneath the muscle that typically surrounds vital organs.  Both types of fat are unhealthy but one can be a bit more dangerous than the other.  I know that you all are dying to find out so sit back, relax, and enjoy the show while I explain everything.

Subcutaneous Belly Fat

Like I said in the introduction, subcutaneous belly fat is the layer that sits just below the skin and on top of the muscle.  This is the fat that we often pinch when determining body fat percentage in the abdominal area.  This fat also is what gives the out of shape look when the abdominal muscles are hidden.  Like all body fat, too much of it can cause health problems and can also indicate poor eating habits.  Subcutaneous fat is also located in the hips, thighs, arms, buttocks, legs, and back.

Visceral Belly Fat

Visceral belly fat is the belly fat that  we do not normally see but it can be very dangerous.  This type of belly fat surrounds our internal organs and can damage our hearts, liver, kidneys, and other organs.  Visceral fat can also lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, breast cancer, high cholesterol, and other health problems.  Although it it not seen, people can have large amounts of visceral fat in their bodies.  This is why diet and exercise is very important.

Cutting The Fat

Whether its subcutaneous, visceral, or a combination of both, there are ways to lower you fat percentages.  First, you must cut down the amount of bad foods that you are eating.  Junk foods, foods that are high in sugar, and foods that are high in fat content, can contribute to the addition of fat in your body.  You must also maintain an exercise routine.  Cardiovascular exercise combined with resistance training is what I find the most effective in reducing fat.  Of course your diet goes along with that.  The time of day that you are eating can also have an adverse effect.  It is best to eat most of your carbohydrates earlier in the day so that your body will have time to burn them off.  As it gets later, you will want to taper off on the carbs.

Final Words

Well I have gone over some things that I hope you all will find very helpful.  Like I always say, there is more than one way to skin a cat.  Just because this way works good for some people, someone else might find a better alternative. Whatever you all decide to do, I hope that it leads you to a happier and healthier lifestyle.

Thank you and goodnight

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!
