Having Fun While Getting Healthier

Good afternoon everybody.  How are y’all doing today?  Today I will discuss ways to get healthier while having fun.  I’ve heard many people say that getting in shape is boring and too hard or that going to the gym everyday gets kind of monotonous.  In some ways I can agree.  Personally, I do not go to the gym everyday partly because the workouts can get a little boring but mainly because your muscles need rest to grow and get stronger.  The days that I do not go gives me a chance to heal and get ready for the next workout.  Back to the topic at hand, there are many ways to get in shape and have fun at the same time.

Spring is here and summer is quickly approaching.  Time to take advantage of Daylight Saving Time and get outside.  Being outdoors gives you a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather while you’re getting fit.  You can enjoy walks though the park or even through the neighborhood.  If you’re a nature lover, you’ll enjoy the sounds of the birds singing and the gorgeous flowers that start to bloom during this time of year.  Walking as well as jogging, skating, or biking, will provide you with some quality cardiovascular training and its also very fun.  If you have kids, you can take them to the playground and enjoy chasing them around or you can play ball in the yard with them.  No matter what age they are, kids will always give you a great workout one way or the other.

These days, technology is a whole lot different than it was when I was a kid.  The video game systems such as the Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation, and Microsoft XBox,  have interactive games available that allow you to venture away from traditional sit-on-the-couch gaming.  The assortment of fitness and dancing games as well as others, will put you in the middle of the action.  Use these to your advantage by playing them with your kids, spouse, or other family members and friends.  You can even take turns hosting parties where you compete with other players.  Some of these even have an online mode where you can play against different people around the world.

Athletic clubs are also a very good way to get in shape while having fun.  You also get a chance to meet new people and/or do some networking.  There are track clubs, swimming clubs, flar football leagues, basketball leagues, and leagues for just about every other sport. This can be a way for the athlete in you to get out show your stuff.  Check out http://www.sportsvite.com for information on the different teams and leagues for men and women.

I hope that this post can be helpful to someone that would like to get in shape but don’t really know what direction to go.  Just do a little research because there is much out there to discover.  Once again, thank you all for tuning in and stay tuned for the next post from BATISTE FITNESS.
